    Picking a mobo?

I tried search and i've read a good chuck of all the FAQ's just for educational purpose and still didn't see exactly what i was looking for...

First... Is there a poll i'm missing on the Mobo of choice? It seems pretty obvious the most widely used is m10k. But is this for a strip down version of a car pc....

This is going in my 98 vette and to be honest cooling and power aren't concerns of mine... Money doesn't have to be a huge concern either but i dont' want a Mobo thats over kill...

Is there a way to figure out how much processor i need meet the demands of a specific application?

    For example....

    Consideration of my Carpc
    MP3's
    Movies
Rear camera and possibly one for upfront to monitor the local law enforcement when the feel the need to have a conversation with me....
    Slim slot
    WiFi
    GPS
    HP Tuner
Wanting to try the TV/FM PCI
    Replace my climate control unit
    another screen
    Flawless sound
xm (not that i was pleased with it when i had it)
    100GB HD

I have no desire to be able to burn CD's or play wow from my carpc... but being able to view a forum and google on the fly are required... I guess I want a board i know can handle all the above, be stable and have the ability to take on a lil more if need be... upgrading ram, video cards, sound cards, etc to meet these demands are are an option if not preferred..

I'm also not worried about size of the board because well this isn't going in my dash anyways.

Sorry if this seems like your everyday n00b post but i did try.. if you can kindly direct me to a thread that can answer my questions that would be great.

I've read that... and just went over it again... maybe i'm really just missing it but... How can i tell if my board/processor can handle what i want....

I'd hate to buy a board thats not able to handle what i know i want it to handle upfront or one thats over kill and now i'm spending money to cool/power a pig...

I've looked at others systems to get an idea of what a board can do.. .but at the same time... there are so many variable when you consider how custom Carpc's are...

For example... why would i buy a an MII12 over the M10k? $50?

Here's the thing, If you see people with a certain board doing what you want to do with it, then get it... If not, (you did say money was not a huge concern) spend the $50 or w/e ammount of money more, and get a faster PC...

    Peace,

i got a 1.4p4 and got no problem doing any of that.

though with wifi on i do get sound pauses when i get on another network but i think it might of been a network card issue. but since then i just hacked my phone to give me free internet. haha.

so unless you gonna do gaming i would say a 2.0 ghz would be fine.
so once u pick your processor any msi/asus / (whichever brand you prefer) will be fine.

But i would rethink the power issue.

i installed another batt and alt to keep my carputer/sound system able to run, and i only get like 2-6 hours off time.

2 if im playin graphic games (geforce 3 vid card) and 4-6 watching movies/music. probably up to 14 hours if i just websurfed.

cuz i do have 4subs. 3amps. so my sound system is probably pulling a bit more then carputer when i have it up.
    Core duo
    1tb harddrive
    256 ddr
    8 lilliput
    bu-353

    still installing...
