Exclamation Multiple Screens off one computer

I'm still in the planing stages of my mp3 auto (i still don't have the car i'm going to be doing it to so thats how far i'm planning ahead lol) but i was wondering if and how i could go about useing multiple screens...i'm planning on useing the pioneer 7000 for the main front unit and i'd like another tv sreem for only the passenger (the car is a 2+2 so i'm not going to worry about back passengers) so if the passenger wants to check his email or cruiz the net he can while i can have somethign else running on the main screen i'd also like another screen in the trunk a real computer lcd this time though...is there a way to run all of these screens? thanks

depending on your os, you can run multiple screens at once by simply installing a second video cards and its drivers. then (in win 98/me) just enable them in properties

Are u sure about this etrik... This one is new to me. It might be easier for him to have another box in the car and use citrix on the main box. The 2nd box will just be a terminal.....

Im pretty sure u can have any number of video cards (limited only by your slots) but they will all display the same image/program. Would it not just be easier to get an RCA splitter and go that route, or would the signals become too weak?! I know that if you have two speaker systems hooked up to one output and u turn the volume up on one, then the other's volume will decrease. Opposite as if u turned one all the way down, the other would increase. Would assume somehow this would apply to LCD screens as well.

If you have 2 (or more) video cards, your desktop size will increase. Each card will output a part of the desktop. They will not output the same image. You configure the orientation of the screens in display properites.

I think you could get it to work the way you want, just open the programs you want on the secondary screen, drag it into position, and close the program. It should reopen in the position you last had it. And yes, you can run multiple programs on multiple screens.

Using two videocards will work in bot win98 and winMe. And yes you can run a program so it is viewed on only one screen.

You will however have a problem when it comes to controlling this (with two users), since there is only one mouse and only one keyboard.
You are not running two virtual machines like on linux, but merely extend the "desctop area".

Be aware that you may have to fidle a bit with your drivers to get it to work (ie, use older drivers ...). have seen it running with a matrox mystique (the old one) and a asus v3800 (tnt2).

I dont think that this is the solution to your problem, especially not if you want to run more than two screens. As far as i rember win98/winme only supports dual screens.

I would just love to have a three screen system though (for playing games, ie on screen is left window, on is frontwindow and the last is right window).

That's right. I run multiple screens at work sometimes, with a spreadsheet on one and Visio on the other. Works great.

I HAVE MULTIPLE MONITORS RUNNING RIGHT NOW

I bought an ATI all in wonder and my MOBO has onboard video. I'm running WIN98, and all I had to do was right click on the desktop, go to properties, and the settings tab. from there, it should display all the video adapters you have. click on any that are grey and click "YES" when it asks you if you would like to enable that monitor. choose the box that says "Extend my desktop onto this monitor" and click OK.

now you have two monitors controlled by the same computer, with different things on them. I use my onboard video and a crappy little 15" monitor to run Realjukebox, AIM, and maybe a second browser window. My ATI card controls my main 17" monitor, and on it you see pretty much what you would normally see on a single monitor system.

This setup is easier than it sounds, and it is worth it. you can put as many monitors on your system as you'd like, providing you have that number of video cards.
