I think I'll pass. Maybe in a few years....their respective MSRPs of $3,700 and $2,430 seem a little pricey.

"When the unit is idle, power consumption is next to nothing, drawing only 0.03 W. While in operation, the power consumption was roughly 0.9 W. No noise is generated due to the lack of moving parts and rotation, and such a unit is not affected by shock in any way. Its footprint is smaller than of a regular 2.5" drive, although Samsung will offer larger sizes to allow for easy integration within existing form factors. Lastly, the unit does not get hot at all and can be operated in virtually any environment."
Perfect for a car computer. I can tell this is going to be huge in the carpc industry.

yeah, the prices mentioned are the laptops (im in korea, and i've seen them, lol)
but "The downside is that Flash memory is expensive, running at about $25/GB."
still makes that drive in and around $800 by itself..
I like SSD disks, be a stable rock' data.
Reavival this post too ! LOL![]()
For some reason if the CarPC hasn't be started up for more the 9 hours, on a cold boot my hard drive isn't recognized. It might be the combinations of motherboard and SSD models I am using. Or it might have to do with the drive needing the 5v power for a few seconds to power up it's internal circuitry. But after a Ctrl+Alt+Del reboot the drive is recognized.
Any ideas?
