im looking at the wafer 5825. Will this be good enough for mp3s? I searched and there were alot of the wafer 7800 ones, bugt not this model. I just wanna do mp3, maybe gps, and possibly divx but not a must. it is some 300 mhz off brand processor.
also, it says 12volt input, and the person selling it on ebay says you can just hook it up to a car straight. he said it has a built in regulator. is he right?
here is their pdf file http://store.yahoo.com/lib/motorcitytech/5825.pdf
Should be fine for MP3s, Divx is a no, there is no sound out, so you'll have to look at USB audio or something like that, what's the URL for the ebay ad?
And you say people actually pay money for M$ Windows?
www.mp3mini.co.uk (Does what it says on the URL) www.openclassic.co.uk (The new car, with zero rust!) www.rob-web.co.uk (My other site)
Total re-design underway: on the whole progress is very slow as the car is taking up too much time :)
the url is http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...ndexURL=0&rd=1
I was planning on using a usb audio solution anyway, like an extigy, or maybe another cheap one.
I am curious as to why divx is a no, is it the processor speed, or the type of processor. Is there any particular type of encoding that would work on such a board? Id like to be able to watch videos of some sort while waiting for a movie to start/whatever in a parking lot.
for the onboard controller, all I need is one with the 31 pin hirose connector? Im lost there.
thanks for the help
I don't know if you're right about Divx, Rob. I could play DivX movies on my old K6-2 333Mhz which was as slow as my P166MMx. It didn't say what brand the processor was, so who knows. David, don't buy this expecting a blazing fast system to watch movies on. I expect it'll skip while playing movies, and maybe even MP3s.
