    Motherboard completely died

First VGA out died, then USB ports started to die (could tell because items began not turning themselves on from receiving power).

Not an OS problem because i got no vga signal from the getgo, no mobo start up shown either.

    motherboard was a VIA EPIA-EN12000EG
    PSU is a M2-ATX

I know it wasnt my monitors fault cause i tried two separate lcd's, OS certainly isnt involved.

I had just been driving along, and the computer was starting up, when it just suddenly died. I figure something had fried itself on my mobo or something, but when i removed it no scorch marks or anything (i'm keeping it in a VoomPC Enclosure. And i'm fairly certain that my PSU would never cause these problems. Should I have some sort of fuse run in line to my psu? I mean the thing handles anywhere from 6-24V so i wouldnt think that anything MY car puts out would have suddenly spiked that. But should i have something in line to the power? or is this just a random weird failure?
Already sent my board in as an RMA, but I would like to do anything i can to prevent this from happening in the future.

    Any suggestions?
    thanks a lot

Ask them to tell you what they found wrong with it on the RMA. Without knowing what caused the problem there's no way to prevent it.

Is the M2 still working? There are reports of the M2 frying, and taking out the MB, CPU, HD, CD ROM, Mouse, and KB (What's left, well, not much really)

Do a search here, and you will find the issues, and what the symptoms are.

I'm currently reading a huge ol' post on the m2, but if it had really fryed (thus taking out all the other components) then wouldnt it, itself, no longer work? because it was still starting up other things, such as fans.

Probably, unless the M2 fried something, but it is still powering come rails of the MB.
