    Installation pic

That is my MP3 player. You can't see the keyboard, but my little brother sits in the trunk and picks the songs while I drive around. Requests are made by using a can attached to a string (not shown, unfortunately). I have a can mounted on the dash that I can shout in to. More pics to come.

Not a bad idea. I don't have any brothers but I have a very annoying niece that could fit on the trunk of my Tercel. I just have a couple questions:

    1) How do you power it? Cheerios? High-sugar content candies?
    2) Have you ever needed to reboot it? If so, how did you?
    3) How's the speech recognition? My niece is only three and might have a hard time understanding me on a noisy freeway. Was this an issue for you?

    TIA.

Actually, I power it by the computer. My little brother happens to enjoy solitare very much and plays while songs are playing.

Speech recognition is wonderful. My player will even understand french on busy highways.

Rebooting is done by 2 hard bangs on the top of the trunk.

love the install!! when he grows older you can also have him pound the top of the trunk to simulate a woofer. Nice way to deal with the powering issue, how come we didnt think of that earlier?

Well... Once my stereo dies, I believe I'm going to get a cheap pair of headphones. That way my brother can listen to the song and try to sing it for the rest of us. I figure the sound might not be that great at first, but it might get better with time.
