    Help!!!

I recently bought a Creative Zen Touch MP3 player. I initially bought it to put in my car---bec that's the only place I will use it! So I bought a $20 fm Belkin transmitter from Walmart and hooked it up. It does transmit the sound through my radio and doesn't sound terrible, but as I'm driving it cuts in and out as the radio station gets better/worse. I have a 2005 Cavalier and would rather not void my warranty taking the dash apart to get to the stereo, but it's not out of the question. Do any of you have a better option to connect it or any suggestions??? Thanks for any help! Oh, I do not have a tape deck, just cd player.

Have you tried switching to a different channel? Most of the FM transmitters work on several different frequencies and no antenna has equal sensitivity to all frequencies.

You need to find a station that is pretty clear, mostly just static, and set the belkin to that frequency. Keep the belkin at the same level of the windows, so it can "see" the FM antenna outside your car. The belkin and a PDA works great on my friends s2000, but it's a softop convertible, no metal surrounding the interior.

It does have four different settings and when I got a weaker signal I switched to one of the other one's and it picked up a little better. Just kinda looking for a way around that completely.

Is it the oval belkin with the LCD screen, or something cheaper? I didn't have too many problems with the one with the LCD, and it could be set to many different frequencies.

Get the Belkin as close to your antenna as possible. Get a better antenna on your car. Or, best bet, get a CD player with USB capabilities. The sound will be much better.

Or, try moving the Belkin to different places in the car as some may work better than others. That is if moving it is an option.

Should I have to move it closer to the antenna if the antenna is plugged into the back of my current stereo? I actually this morning had it sitting in my cup holder right under/by my stereo.

The antenna is shielded by a ground all the way from the whip to the back of the stereo. You need to get it closer to the whip.

This is the one I have experience with, it's got full fm band frequency settings. Works better than you describe with yours.

ok do you think it would be worth it for me to send mine back and order the one you suggested? I just wanted a good way to store all of my cd's on one device.

Yea, but no need to order... if you have the original box, walmart might even take it back from you and let you exchange for the better one.
