    am/fm tuner

ok, so I got my system in and I'm EXTREMELY dissapionted in my HU (eclipse cd 5000), so I've decided to take the plunge and build my carputer, however, ther is still one thing holding me back. Are there any good am/fm tuner modules/cards out there? If I do this, I dont want an HU at all, but I still want to hear my local stations ( and I'm not a big fan of the monthly fees for sat. radio)

A little more on the cd5000 in case your wondering.....

    Time alignment...extremely limited settings
    EQ feature....SUCKS
cd track advancement... ever tried using an overly sensative controll knob in a MOVING vehicle???
Screen.. NO WAY TO TURN OFF THE STUPID MOTION PICTURE THING>>>WTF??????
Eclpses Over-hyped Eiserv.....offers LESS adjustment than just using the the controlls on the HU. I feel they are falsly advertising the capabilities of this service and I was basically LIED to. this service is a joke.
controll knobs.... Overly sensative, extremely wobbly, and actually feel like they are going to break off in my hand.

For one of thier Flagship cd receivers, Eclipse gets an F-, this thing is a PIECE OF JUNK, and I will NEVER buy an eclipse product again!!!

Headunits usually have far superior FM modules in them, but this seems like it gets good reviews here (I have not used it)

I use this, and with an antenna mod, it's about half as good as a real HU in terms of reception. I don't use radio much however. When I modded it, I removed the ability to recieve AM.

This has been said a lot of times in this forum.. but.. just one more time...

Do not buy a radioshark. It is a waste of money, even when modded.

If you are using streetdeck, wait for them to release their own hardware.
If you are using RoadRunner(highly recommended) then get a HQCT. It is by far the best tuner out right now for pc's.

In 8 days the tuners will be available for everyone to buy on our website (not only people who pre-ordered)...

We just ordered another batch too, which will arrive tomorrow...

Very nice tuner! I notice it uses a USB header. Is one header sacrificed with the Tuner installed, or is there a pass-thru header?

I'm sorry no, I meant to compliment on the design concept. I'm going to browe the thread about the design to see if they include USB header passthru so I don't lose a pair of USB ports.
