Just want to thank everyone who posts here for all the help I've found on this forum over the past few months. I've finally gotten all the parts I needed, assembled/installed/tweaked the collective carputer system, and have had it running for a week of in-car testing. Everything looks like it's going to work extraordinarily well, and I owe it to all of you.I ended up going with a Matsonic MB for $30 (http://www.matsonic.com/ms8117c.htm), a Duron 700 chip I had left after my home pc upgrade, some extra RAM I had (totalling 320 MB.. overkill, I know, but it might as well get used!), a10G and 12G hard drives, 4mb AGP video card with TV out, 6.5" LCD (NTSC... couldn't swing VGA prices after I found out the last VGA screen I had wouldn't work), a cheap EZ-Touch touchpad, and an old Packard Bell Media remote I had lying around (haven't tested it yet.. hoping it will work). All powered by a PC Cooling & Power 12V input power supply.. it's only 100W, but it seems to be working well, even with the extra peropherals. I haven't used it with the second HD installed yet.. we'll see how it works with that. The only real difficulty I've been experiencing is text legibility in Win98 thru the LCD... of course I expected as much. I can adjust size and such on everything EXCEPT regular text within the message boxes and such.... i.e., when I look at my C: drive in Exporer, the name of the drive is displayed in beautifully legible 22 point type, but the fila names and such are all tiny. Anyone know of a method of changing that font size?... I was unable to do it thru the video properties in Control Panel. In any case, I just wanted to shoot y'all a quick thanks for all the tips and such... I'll be posting a few pics soon so you can see the progress. The eT/A is now on the road!!

Hey eT/A if you don't mind keeping me update I would like to know one thing.
After you get you system installed and running for a few days let me know how it works.
I have gone through (2) PC Power and Cooling 100 1U power supplies in about 3 days of total operation time. I really think the heat is cooking them.
PC Power has the first one back but has yet to give me an answer on what happened to it. I have called them for 5 straight days andi t is always, "Well I don't know yet" or "The tech is not here", so "Call back tomorrow"....
They are not really impressing me with their customer service. I just want to know why there power supplies will not last more than a few days for me. The only consistent thing I can think of is heat. I live in Houston TX and the computer box gets up to 125 F or so when the car is sitting at work...
so let me know how yours fairs...

I have the same problem that eT/A had with the fonts - I managed to change the text size in window headings from Display properties/Appearance but not the regular text IN the windows. So I have really hard time finding another directory or song to add whenever I wanna change the songs on Winamp.
I tried what you said: display properties/settings/advanced/general but the pull down option for changing the DPI is greyed out in my car PC!
I am using WinMe at 640X480 @24bit color. The drivers are the latest for my motherboards chipset.
What can I do about it?
By the way... tried it on my home's desktop (1024X768) and it's working. Could it be the resolution too low in the car and doesn't let me enlarge the fonts any more?
