Pioneer KR05 Cable....

What is it and where can I get it? Microcenter basically told me the connection for these are so new that they don't exist yet. Is it a SATA to IDE that I need?
I'm confused.

2) You realize that we put computers in our rides, not overpriced headunits, right?

it's just a pioneer slot-load dvd drive for notebooks. they told me that it only plugs into a notebook and they don't make a cable for it.
the reason i question this is because i've seen other people on here with this drive in use.
i guess i'll check pioneer.

it's a dvr-k05 that's the model of the slot load laptop dvd-r drive. I bought the dvr-k06, newer, had dvd-ram (that US doen'st really use), and faster write speeds but it was several dollars more then older model,

how did you connect it?
is it in a notebook or a cpu?
what I need to do is connect this slot-load dvd notebook drive to my VIA m10000 by any means necessary.
any advice?

-It's a CDR/DVDR Slim notebook drive. The slim optical drives that come inside notebook/laptops.

-There are 2 common ways of connecting it)
1) you get a slim IDE to regular IDE connector, something like this http://linitx.com/product_info.php?products_id=110
2) you get a slim IDE to USB2 connector, something like this

-If you are mounting the drive VERY NEAR to the MoBo(less then 2 feet), then it's cheaper to go with #1, if you are mounting farther away (more then 2 feet), then use #2

I went with #1 because I mounted my MoBo in back of the drive. If you go with #2, you need to also power the IDE to USB adapter. Be careful with the IDE to USB adapter, some use 5V some use 9V, and also the polarity, they have barrel plugs that may have the (+) on the outside.

Slim IDE adapter was what I was looking for. I went to 3 computer places and they all just laughed at me and said it couldn't be done. Someone told me to look for places that sell Home Theater parts....and once I looked for that I found the adapter. Thanks for the help.
