    windshield mount

Is there windshield mounts for touchscreen, because i have a mazda 6 and im havin some difficulty tryin 2 put the screen in the map compartment space. My guess would be to get a windshield mount and velcro the bottom of the screen to the compartment.....

    Any ideas??

depending on where you live, i'd think that'd be a good way to have it stolen.

but then again, i used to live in the ghetto, so i'm paranoid about that even though i now live out in the sticks. :/

at least in the dash if it looks like it'd take some work to get out, it reduces the temptation of a smash and grab though. with velcro, it might just be too tempting.

what about to the floor with a boom style attachment so it's lower. some states have laws about putting things in the windshield, and like the other guy said, someone will gank it if it's visible.

You know I have seen so many people modify their map comparment when its so easy to make a whole new one. I didn't even use fiberglass! MDF+sanding+vinyl(or paint but I matched the vinyl). I am in the process of fabricating a new cover piece for the screen.

My screen folds down that way I can hide it. No motorization though-just manually when i need to. Maybe this will help you.

Do you have any more pictures or details of what you did there? That's about what I've been drawing up for mine, but I'd love to steal your ideas

Damn that looks pretty nice, but i dont have any experience cutting up the dash. I already screwed up the map compartment.....lol

Far as right now, the temporary solution i did was the one in my first post. Ya its easy to steal, but far as cops if i ever get pulled over ill just say its a gps system. And my windows have a pretty dark tint on them (15%), but i live n a good area so i really dont worry about getting my car broke into.
I only really worry is when i go to the mall or something. I'm want to take it to a shop and have them do some custom work, but i know its gonna cost me a arm n a leg.........

I have some pictures for my install log that I go to shows with but I never think to take pictures of it as I am doing it. I didn't cut anything out of my dash that is the best part. And when I traded my 04 in for the 06 Speed ver I just popped it right back in. I am planning on doing a worklog hopefully to show and explain some things. If I had to do it again I might make some changes to make it easier to build. I must admit that a lot of my work is smoke and mirrors. I could car less what it looks liek on the inside as long as it does what I need it to do and holds up for me and looks nice on the outside.

Subscribe to this thread and I will come back and post a link to my worklog when I get it up here. Or just keep a look out for it in the show off your project section.

Added: Hint-Cardboard works very nice for making templates. Then just transfer the template to wood.

Ok I have started a worklog. Right now it only has pictures from my old car. I am working on pictures for my new car. Here is a another picture of the screen I found. It kind of shows a little bit of the "behind the scenes action" Here is my worklog
