tv sucks so, what about high def signals ?

So, now that I finally have an HD lcd tv, I just found out that High Def signals are like wireless signals... they're not noisy like rf.. they're either on or off... Since I live in Toronto and they broadcast from the tallest free standing structure in the world being the cn tower, I can get local hd stations from quite a distance and more importantly, while moving. Has anyone attempted to get an hd card in their car pc and use it with success? My thoughts are that it should work but I'd like to hear some discussion on it before I buy one.
fyi.. ati makes one for around $100 or so.

True digital signals are either on or off but they come in chunks. Your picture isn't solid chunk of info, it is put together with lots of packets of data. I have a feeling that a fast moving vehicle would have bits of data lost thus resulting in fragments of the screen being incorrect. If you have ever taken a Digital 8mm camcorder and hit the fast forward button or rewind button you'd know what I'm trying to get at. I'm not basing any of this on personal experience trying to do it, but to me it sounds like a problem you'd run into.

Remember that you're still going to watch TV. It will suck, but with amazing clarity...
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

Might want to check out Pinnacle's USB HDTV tuner:

RCA also has one in the works, available in April.

I have thought about this for the "just because I can" factor of it. But in all honesty, I dont think I would be able to tell the difference between a HD Signal from a nice and strong SD signal on my 7inch LCD in my car... But, thats just me.

I cant lie though, having High Definition in a Carputer is still cool

for me it's not about the hd clarity.. it's the fact that I can watch tv without noise since the signal is either there or not there....it's not like analog signals where you see noise in the picture.

Oh, you'll get noise. You'll get digital garbage most of the time. Digital signals aren't like Analog for sure, and they more than likely won't like to get recieved while you're moving. I've seen enough threads of people trying to get Digital TV in their car and failing miserably because it just doesn't work.
