a p2 233 is more than enough to decode mp3s, and with the right hardware (read videocard or deoder card) you might even be able to pull off the dvds.
I"m working on a carputer, and trying to do ti as cheaply as possible. I've found some old PII-233's for 50$, will this be a powerful enough machien for MP3 ? I don't plan on DVD at this point, but would it work for that also ?
-thanks

If you look hard enough, you can probably get one for free. I went to my school and asked if they had any extras. Now I just tell everyone, "I found it in the dumpster."
You could also go to a hospital. Bribes aren't out of the question either for uncooperative people.
But if you bride someone, you are paying for it anyway.. lol... offer someone 100bucks to give you a 50dollar computer for free.. lol... thats what I would do..Originally posted by Graf Spee

DIVX is derived from MPEG-4. DVDs are MPEG-2. If it cant play DVDs then there is no way it will play DIVX! Iv tried to play DIVX on a celery 400 and it skips about half the frames.Originally posted by THEMP3KID
