problem, can't get dvd burner hooked up?

I have the VIA MII10000 motherboard with 512 ram and the M2-ATX PSU enclosed in the VoomPC case. If your not familiar with that case it doesn't have an area for a slim dvd/cd drive so I need to connect one via USB...

anyways, i have the slim dvd drive in an external enclosure (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...2830&rd=1&rd=1)
which I have seen other members try and had success so i gave it a try.

When i plug it into the USB port it find it ok but only for about 30 seconds then the drive dissappears? I searched and saw some people mentioning it might not be getting enough power so I tried it also using power from the PS2 port but that didn't work either...

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks

How would you power it from the PS2 port?
It might be more useful to provide teh 5v that the drive requires either from the power supply or some other 5v source.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?

it came with a cable, firewire on one end to connect to the drive...usb and a ps2 on the other end. once the ps2 is plugged in to lets say the mouse port it provides the drive with power.

It's 5v, if you get power from USB. USB doesn't supply 12v at all.
Another option is to hack into a molex and draw 5v power from there.

This is a topic that has been discussed many times on these forums. Have a search and you'll find lots of options.
