Incidentally, how was the engineering sample board that you tested?

True, mini PCI express. You are right.

And I also bout it because of the PCI slot (for a sound card) and the PCI express (for a graphocs card)

Anyways, because of real life committments that I wasn't expecting, I haven't been able to put together the board yet. When I do, I'll post on here.

Excellent news!

This afternoon I received the custom BIOS from Kontron for the 986LCD.

The BIOS is reported to support 800x480 on LVDS, *and* the Analog VGA!

My 986LCD is shipping today, so I won't get to try it until all the parts arrive.. but so far it looks good.

Caelric, is your 986LCD in working order? I can send you the BIOS file if you're interested - it's about 1M zipped.

The usual warnings apply - I haven't tested the BIOS yet.

I'll update with results in the next week or so, as all my components are shipping today.

FWIW, I'm getting a 2.0 Ghz Core Duo 2 processor, and 2G of DDR2 PC5400 RAM.

Well, I just got it all put together and am loading winblows. No need for the BIOS, I have version 1.0 already, and I am using a seperate video card, because you never know when you will want to play F.E.A.R. while you're driving down the road...

Mine's arriving tomorrow..

I'm planning on putting it in an Opus ITX case (the black one)..

I have a feeling that the case may not be tall enough in certain areas - I may be designing a height extension to the case..

I'm making a custom case out of plexiglass, pretty similiar to the one for my previous carPC (check links in my sig for pics) It's all part of the fun of building it (at least for me), so I want to build all of it.

Going to go with Streetdeck for this one, though, instead of Frodoplayer.

Yeah, I've been primarily considering Streetdeck as the front end, and booting from a 2G or 4G UDOC..

Wonder if the multi monitor support will be improved in streetdeck.. I'm putting at least two Lvds screens in my Wrx, if not three... if I can figure out where to put the third one..
