    5 1/4 Speakers?

So while being fairly knowledgable about computers, I know very little about car audio in terms of "quality" brands. The 5 1/4's (or so I am led to believe) on the rear deck of my car are on their way out (and have been for quite some time), and was wondering what a good pair of affordable replacements would be. The system is 100% stock beyond the computer, tho it sounds quite good for a stock 6 speaker setup, well balanced. Not that my head unit can dish out that much power, but it sounds like I've slowly blown them out, so something that can take a good bit of power would be good. Any suggestions? I realize that I should probably take this to an audio forum, but I respect your guys opinions on the matter.
    -Nick

if you look hard enough, you can find them for around $40 / pair.

http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S...10&g=51800&s=0 I would go with the Rockford Fosgate HPC2205. Put the Pioneer TS-A1365 they look like they shoud be good.

    How much??

How much are you looking to spend?? I hate to ask that question, but its the only way to give a good response. JL's and MB's are gonna cost ya a bit more than Pioneer and Blaupunk.

I love my kenwood components...they are STRICTLY high's and mids. Dont expect much base to come out of them...but if you've got subs then you dont really need any base out of them. Metallica S&M sounds subperb on these. I love to hear violins in the midst of heavy metal. You can hear every instrument though them.

Adivice: www.carreview.com is a decent review site
Any $50 a pr will be better than 90% of car factory speakers. But it still gets a lot better after that.

Need something soon? If ya wait till mid August, I'll be in Lake Zurich, IL. I can get pretty much anything at Dealer Cost.
I'm a ghost...email me if you have any questions on my old setup

    FYI: I sold my 96 4Runner and bought a 1985
