    Smile Question about Power/General

Im new to all this, and i know alot about building computers but nothing about wireing power to cars. I have a 94 honda civic and im going to install one in it very soon. I want to build my own computer for it a regular Atx case and computer becouse i want a very high end computer in it. My only problem is i dont know how to hook up the power supply and i dont know what power supply i need.

Would i used the standard 400w?

I know you guys here know your stuff thanks for the information i know i will get.
Have a great and safe holiday!!!!

    First, welcome.

Next, as a computer guy that you say you are, you should know to SEARCH and READ THE FAQs, when you have a question.

SEARCH AND READ THE FAQ EMPORIUM, and you will find your answer. And, of course, come up with MANY, MANY more questions. You know what you do then, right, SEARCH AND READ THE FAQ EMPORIUM.

I assure you, you are NOT the first person to have this question. And, if this is your question, there is NO WAY IN HELL you will have a carputer in your car anytime soon. Sorry, it just takes a considerabel amount of work to get a carputer in your car. There are people on this board for years with out a carputer in thier car.

New to CarPCs? Don't know where to start?

Reading that would probably have pointed you in the right direction.

I do advise a quick search, there's so much information to be had on this forum it's unreal. You want a high end computer, but how are you proposing to power it and keep it cool? And why do you need a high end PC in the car? It's not like you're going to game on a 7" screen.

Even on a M10000 I'm able to run DVDs without issue.

That thread will answer a lot of the questions you will no doubtedly have....

Well thats true i guess... but seeing most of the mini atx boards are 1ghz i have a 1ghz laptop laying around with a broken screen with vga out, that would work perfect for my car, i was thinking i could just get a power inverter for it. Also, hows the audio sound with thoses mini atx's becouse i would think you would need a nice audio card for your car system to sound good right? Thats one reason i wanted a high end computer
