Do you think mounting a slim load drive upside down will cause any functionality problems? The reason I ask is because the drive advertised here has the loading slot closer to the top of the drive, which may be covered by part of the dash in my coming up install. I know that if I mount it upside down the slot will be in just the right spot.
Thanks in advance,
-Daniel
Yeah, I would assume that vertical mounting wouldn't create problems. But I'm not sure about how the whole loading mechanism works, so possibly upside-down mounting would be problematic. Has anyone tried this before?
Thanks,
-Daniel
I tried to mount my imac slot load dvd drive upsidedown. It didn't work. It wouldn't take the discs properly and if it did, they wouldn't play. The best thing you could do is to try it before you mount it in the car.
Never let the truth get in the way of a good story
I'm going to guess probably not, because it won't be able to center the disc properly and probably won't be able to hold the disc in place while it tries to spin it.
That's what I thinking too. Oh well, I guess I'll have to make it fit right side up.
Thanks.
A recommendation why dont you try it, just hook it externally to a desktop or laptop and try to play a dvd and/or CD when it is in the upside position.
I just tried it with my panny DVD/CDRW and it worked fine.
Just remember to put the Disc's in upside down! (puzzled me for a minute...)![]()
if the center spin motor of the drive actually holds the cd, (like you have to push to snap it in) then you should be fine, but if its a slot load then I dont think it will work.
