Great Thread. (Subscribed) Let us know when and where those pics are. Did you still want/need the DEI install manual for the 563T? I believe you're gonna have to tear it open to arm/disarm via your uController.

    Thanks guys,
No, I do not need the manual for the 563T anymore. Extremeproaudio hooked me up! (Thanks)

Well, pics so far were of the mods to the video transmitter board. Those are going to get undone now that I am going to remove the modules. I am still waiting on quite a few pieces to really begin.

BTW, the only way I could arm/disarm by my controller is to hack in one of the remotes. I can check the status of the alarm. But, now with the manual, I can set my alarm on passive arming mode which will arm the car for me 10 minutes after the engine is shut off and the last door is closed.

There are alot of settings that can be done with the valet switch. I may hook that up to my micro-controller to automate it.

Yeah, that was the other thing I was going to mention, the bit-writer only provides very few more options (usually when there are more than 2 selections possible). But it would be neat to write a program that can read and write to those bits via car-pc. I know DEI had software and a link-cable at one time, but I searched a few months ago and couldn't find it. I imagine inside the alarm module itself you could find the pin from the tranciever to the controller and tap into it to not have to use a remote. But I guess six of one, half doz..
If you ever end up popping your 563T open, could you let me know what chip manufacturer they use (for the controller) I've always meant to check, but now I don't have any spares around.

    h3rk,

Sure. I don't really plan on it, though. Like I said, if I set it for passive arming, it will arm itself after I get out of the vehicle. All the other signals I am interested in can be tapped into externally. Unless the passive arming doesn't work as well as I expect or ends up being annoying (like setting the alarm while I am sitting in the car) I don't have any more plans to mess with it.

I am getting really anxious to start this, but these damn sellers are taking forever to send my stuff. The main thing I am waiting on is the DVR of course. I emailed them and apparently they don't speak the greatest english. They vaguely told me it has been shipped and I should be receiving it shortly (as in they shipped it when I emailed them a week later, or they shipped it several days before??) I don't dare ask again for clarity!

Received the boost mobile phone today. I activated it with no problem. Mobile web with no problems. Set up my credit card I use only for recurring payments. Loaded it with $35 and registered for Auto-Reboost, which will add $25 to the account automatically if the balance drops below $5.

I set up the phone to never ring, backlight always off, etc.. I am probably going to set my voicemail greeting to say that this phone does not accept incoming calls. That way if my number was recycled, anyone calling it (hopefully) will never call it again.

Should be all set for in car use. I just ordered an extended battery for it. I see a lot of people thinking there isn't one for this phone. There is, it is the same as the i730 and i830, but the battery door ends up grey instead of black. No big deal for my use.

Edit: Nevermind, the battery door will not fit the i455 at all. The bottom clip is different. But, in my case, I won't need the door anyway. I just ordered a 2400mAh battery (stock is 850mAh)

That's it, didn't get anything else today, so no real news (this is sounding like a blog, maybe I should start one of those instead.)

I remembered that I had an account with blogspot already, so I did a quickie set up for a carpc blog. I just have an intro post there right now, but I will try to add to it more this week. It allows me to post pictures within the blog, so this is where you will get to see the pictures for this project.

    Here is the addy:

    Any suggestions, let me know.

bro, why are you having problems with posting them here... you can post pictures no problem... there are size restrictions though, & 800X600 is max....

theres a built in converter if you try to load a larger picture that resizes it... I have had some problems with like abnormal aspect ratio's not uploading & sometimes if it's too large it may not convert...it's also kinda slow... there is also a restriction to 200kb... some pictures could be OK in size but still give a problem if it's a larger file than this...

I usually either take small pictures with my camera if I know there going to be uploaded, or just open it quick in photoshop & resize.... if you save it as a jpeg it asks you for a quality with a slider, & you can adjust it to below the 200kb...

sounds like a bit of hassle, but it's not too bad really...... if you upload 1 picture it shows up in the post directly... if you load more than one there shown as links... if you want to show several pictures just do several posts, each with some text & one photo...

needless to say, I want to see this

Not really "problems" unless I just didn't understand it when I went to add the pics before. It was more that I had to upload them to my ISP space (have to figure out which folder is public) and then link the url here instead of uploading them directly. Maybe I should try again, but adding a url to the picture was the only option I thought I had seen. At the moment, I don't have exciting pictures yet. The mods to the video transmitter are going to get undone since I changed my mind about them and I haven't gotten the most important parts yet.

BTW, I wasn't going to completely abandon the thread here, just thought it might get annoying to some with the blog-like style this thread has ended up being like. I thought I would offload some of my babbling over to a blog.

    What do you think?

EDIT: DOH!! I was clicking on the picture icon and not the paperclip. Fooking noob!

Right click on a picture in a post, check its address, in the "message:" window in the toolbar at the top, there is a paperclip. I'd like to see it in here.
