Unhappy Laptop now not using External Monitor

    Hi there,

My laptop used to automatically use the external monitor plugged into its VGA port (it has no LCD plugged into it's internal ports). Now, it displays "unsuported video" on the external monitor, until the 'switch over' keys are pressed (Fn-F4 for me). There are no BIOS options related to the display.

Does anyone know what could have caused it to randomly stop working correctly?

I found i810switch for linux that could sort out my problem, does anyone know of a WinXP equivalent???

    Thanks, Sam

I have the some problem already from one year
I need to press 2 times Fn F4, and in some case if I turn off and turn on
the monitor switch, it goes in over Range, then I have to go in the trunk to repress the keys..

    Which resolution do You use?
me the 800x600 (default monitor lilliput is 1024x768) Can this is a problem?

anyone else wanna help me out ....i got a HP ZT3340US laptop, and the display will not go out to the 7inch touchscreen monitor that i have in my car. The only way i can get it to show up is when i take the battery out of the laptop. Power it up, wait about a minute untill i know for a fac windows is fully loaded, and then plug in the VGA cable for the monitor, hit FN + F4 a few times till i get something up on the screen. The reason why i have to do all this is because my laptop screen is broken. So the only way i get a display is from an external monitor. Any ideas guys, since this is a real pain in the *** to do every single time i get in my car untill i get my regulated DC/DC power in there.....

i've been looking but i get nothing, and the other thing is when i restart the basturd...it goes into dual monitor mode, and sets the external monitor as the 2nd and extends my desktop over...so i cant get to anything! I'm going to restart and check the bios now
