Question PS emulation with the c3 800mhz, via epia board ???

G'day boys and girls! Just a quick question.... and its a bit of an off shoot of the c3 800mhz, via epia board, and divx thread. There has been a lot mentioned on whether these boards can support divx and i think one person mentioning if it could support games. My question is how well would these boards go with say Playstation emulation? Personally, haven't had much experience with emulation for the PS, but i am willing to dabble. Has anyone tried this, is willing to try, has any ideas as to whether it could be possible to support it with this board and processor, or is it too underpowered? Any other ideas about using the mini itx form to support PS emulation. Cheers guys!

its powerful enough just depends on what kinda of GFX card you got in there, Bleem! is the only EMU that I know that supports software emulation but epsxe is the best thing out right now the only problem with epsxe is that you need a psx bios file and they are hard to come by.

Cheers for the response. Mate i picked up a bios a while back.... but never got to play with it.... so that's all good. So you think the board should be able to take emulation, because i remember hearing that the c3 was only comparable to a pentium 533mhz. Something along those lines. Also the benchmarks from some reviews were pretty down there, but the board speaks for itself, its sensational for what it does. You can't always get everything. Any ideas on gfx cards for the epia board... any recommendations?

from what I understand the onboard gfx is a slightly outdated trident I've been looking for a psx emu to use.. I've been playing SNES and NES games all weekend on my epia board

I dont know if this is much use to anyone (Sorry guys i have a massive headache and i am trying to speak italian to someone else at the same time... long story) but i found this on the epsxe forum. The epia board has different architecture so could someone use this to answer whether this board can handle emulation. Cheers guys!

    Minimum system requirements:
    P200MMX or compatible
    32 MB of RAM
Fast graphic card (like the voodoo 2)
    Cdrom x16
    Win9x
    DirectX 7a

    Recommended system configuration:
    P2 450 or greater
    128 Mb of RAM
Very fast DirectX, Opengl or Glide graphic card
    fast CD-ROM
    Win9x
    DirectX 7a

    Recommended system configuration:
    P2 450 or greater *check
    128 Mb of RAM *check
Very fast DirectX, Opengl or Glide graphic card *maybe not so check
    fast CD-ROM *check
    Win9x *check
    DirectX 7a *check

    I've got it all, I'm going to have to wait till later to test it.. I never thought about the fact that I don't have any psx games with me right now ^^;;

the most inportant thing for epsxe is the bios file as it is illigal to distrabute, there are ways to extract it from your PSX console but its very hard. another thing about psx emus is that not all games play @ 100% so dont expect to see stunning gfx when playin more high end games. I have EPSXE running on my computer :

    Windows 2000 pro
    320 MB RAM
    32 MEG GFX card
    40X CD
    and direct X 9.0 beta

Works like a dream, but as I said some games just dont work if you need help in setting EPSXE up then give me a shout I would be glad to help ya out

At the moment I am playing FFVI off of the final fantasy anthology on my epia board!

during some parts there's a bit of flickering.. I think I can get rid of that with a little tweaking though

so far so good It took me about an hour and a half to get the plugins configured and everything so it will play smoothly.. when I finally get it working as best I can I'll post screen shots of the plugin configs so you can emulate my procedure.

Right now when it's just normal game stuff ie mapscreen & villiages the game looks PERFECT.. movies are also great.. it's the 3d stuff that's a little flickery :/ I'll keep everyone posted on my progress
