    Post system performance

How will a system with winamp on a windows 95, AMD K6 with MMX Tech. 200 mhz, and 16 mb of ram perform? Will it be sluggish? What will startup time be?

Startup should be about 1-1.30 and it should not be sluggish, assuming you are only using IR/Keypad and character LCD

It should be alot faster start than a minute. I am running a pentium 100 with 24 megs of mem. Without tweaking the bios or even windows i have it down to less than 35 seconds. (this is with a playlist of around 200 songs) My master playlist takes a bit longer because of massive amounts of files (around 6000)

Dont really think your system should be sluggish either just that it is better than 75 pentium. 16 ram is the bare minimum though.

If you bump it up to 64megs of ram, it will run anything but 3-D games well.

I run winamp and a GPS moving map program at the same time on a 233 with 64 Megs of ram.

    Cool

The RAM really makes the difference. Between 16 and 24 megs, there could very well be a 30 second difference in boot time. Plus, the system will be MUCH happier. 16 will work fine for running WinAmp, but as far as I have seen, the practicle (ie. useable by a human) minimum is 24.
