Hey people i am looking at getting a Sound Blaster AWE 64 Gold off a mate of mine i just wanted to know how much beter it would be than my old arse crap isa sb 16. Does anyone know how manny volts the rca side of the soundcard gives off. Would it make a big difrence to my music quality and has anyone ever used one of these soundcards before.

I recently replaced the SB AWE 64 Gold I had in my server with a SB Live!. The Gold had decent sound quality. I won't say you will see a noticible diffrence between it and you 16 though. To my understanding the big diffrence is in the Wave table, which is used for MIDI.
The biggest advantage I could see by choosing that sound car would be the S/P-DIF output that it has on board. The RCA jacks should be rated at 4 volts if I remember correctly.

The AWE64 Gold is a good card. I believe it shares most of the DAC with teh SB 16, but it sounds great nontheless. The RCA outputs should be standard line level (1V P-P) so I'll doubt you'll have any problems interfacing it with anything.
