I know this kinda stuff is old hat to everyone, but thanks for the reply allenruble! At first I wasn't to excited about doing all the wiring to remotly turn on my computer, but now I don't feel so bad about it. Does anyone here know of any good books that deal with this sort of beginner electronics?

Just something.. use the second diagram there, it means that you won't need a fuse on your remote power on line..thisis because even if the wire does break, or get chopped, it is at GND anyway, so it doesn't matter..

allenruble: what is the name of the first thing you showed me?
Also, what are the things called you attach to the battery and then you can attach wires to them?
Spade lugs. But don't worry, they are easy to find in any Radio Shack, electronics store, or hardware store.Originally posted by detz

....If they ground line gets chopped, then its of no immediate consequence, but it could arc to the closest ground, and if any of the 5 wires that aren't ground get cut, they will cause immediate problems. ALWAYS use a fuse.Originally posted by THEMP3KID
