    Post lcd Q

I have a hitachi 4x40 lcd screen hooked up to my parallel port. I am using lorty's shareware pluging to control it. The problem i am having is right after lorty's displays my song info and the spectrum analyzer starts it stops and gives me a error message (plugin executed illegal operation) Also if it helps the second of the display i do see has everything correct except that parts of the analyzer has zero's instead of bars. Any answers?

Also I any one knows how i can get a copy of lorty's registered plugin let me know. Wink wink. The reason i am asking is because i am trying to register but he just isnt responding to my email. Thanks everyone.

Assuming you have installed the most recent demo version (2.406 I think)...

Send me your email and I will send you my .ini file (it holds the setup values)

I won't send the registered version, sometimes it takes Lorty a week or two to check his email, but the pittance I paid to register is worth it. (I am by no means trying to preach)

Or you can email me through my web site.

BTW the 40x4 screenshot that Lorty has on his site now is of my machine.

The ini file didnt freeze on me! but it didnt display correctly either. now it scrolled the name of the song in the upper left corner about using about 2 x 6 of my 4x40 display. but it didnt freeze!

Could it be that the cord is too long. now that i think of it i heard about this. I am using a fifteen foot cord. so if i shorten it will it work?
    thanx

I have a 5 foot cord hooked up, then for testing another 5 foot.

I can tell that is too long, since the display seems to be lagging behind.

I think 15 feet would be way too long, parallel port signals don't travel so fast, so you could be having problems in that area.

Can you try it on a 3-5 foot cable.

And are you using the latest version of lorty? The earlier versions would not work properly on a 40x4, only the latest demo version.

Yes im using the latest version of lorty's.
I could test on a smaller cord but heres the question, If you only using a 5 ft. cord how do you reach a computer that is in the trunk? I need about ten feet for my estimate. I know the display is proubly hooked up correctly (because everything seems to display fine before it frezes with the original ini file.

btw dodge I love your camera mounted on the tank... Thats great!

im not using lorty's, im using on by mike lynch, u can get it off winamp's plugin site. Its free and not shareware style and very versatile. not sure of the link but just run a search for LCD in the plugin section, u'll get like 50 results but its in there somewhere, or u could just run a search for lynch, that might help.

Grandam: That program works for me, kinda. I can only seem to get it to use the top line to display the song. It doesnt freeze though and uses the whole width of the 4x40 display. Could you send me your vis_lcd file so i could try that? Email [email protected]

That would be cool. well at least i know i can always at least just have the song title heh.

Any other input would be great!

    Thanx

Just to let you know when i do fool around with lynch's plugin the only thing i can get to work corectly is line one. If i do try to use the other lines it makes it start to bug out and create wierd characters and print parts of the name of the song spuraticle in line one and two. But it does work with only the title activated on line one.
