EPIA MII 10000 onboard USB plug help

Hi, It says in the specs that there's a:
    Onboard I/O Connectors - 1 USB connector for 2 additional USB 2.0

I'm guessing it's this yellow pin out:

I have a front panel USB 1.1 x 2 plug that I scrapped from an old computer but it has a different plug configuration:

    12 holes instead of 10.
Is it possible to cut out the blank slots and plug this into the USB pin out?

If I cut it and plug it in, what's the configuration, like which way would the plu have to be oriented?

Or am I completely wrong on this and need a separate USB plug?

That plug that you have (the cable from the old computer) is not a standard cable.

    This is the standard pinout:

You won't be able to use the connector you have (the old one) because the 3rd or 4th row of pins will be blocked meaning it won't work. All VIA boards should come with a back panel connector. Basically goes where the PCI cards screw in and has the appropriate cable already (usually the same colour as the header too in your case yellow).

hey 2K1. I'm sorry, but now I'm confused. My board didn't come with any extra cables other than the ribbon ones for the HD/CD.

Would I need something like this?

making sure that the wires match the pin-out configuration you posted?

I found this at my local computer store. Would I have to butcher it to just get the 2 USBs?

I also found the exact same BELKIN one at another store but it costs like $12. Twice as much as the 4 port model. I wonder why is that?
And with this I'm guessing I would have to splice the wires to match the pinout?

I mean we're not talking about a lot of money here. Just want to make sure I'm getting the right part and that it doesn't fry the board.

Both will work. Notice that the top one has 2 blocks that are 2x5 each. That is the same as the bottom picture except those are seperate. All modern usb headers are standard like the ones in the pictures you posted. both will work.

In the top picture, if your motherboard doesn't support firewire, then those 2 extra ports will be useless, but if it is cheaper, then why not.

And no splicing is needed. The header on your motherboard is modern and standard. The cable that you originally posted with is some archaic proprietary cable.
