    Thermaltake A2413 7" retractable LCD?

    http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/Produc...uctCode=371362

Anyone ever use one of these? I searched for 'Thermaltake' and 'A2413' but could not find any relevant threads. I can't find any information on the Thermaltake site either. I wonder if it's a Lilliput/Xenarc rebadge or something. They can be found for ~$325USD.

I'm going to use a spare laptop to get my first carputer project going and this looks like it would fit the bill nicely.

    Thanks.

(sorry for the rotation - didn't catch it when i uploaded)

    That thing?

I wouldn't use it in the car. I asked them about it while at CES and was told that it was ment for servers, not for the car. I can't imagine it would be any good in the car. It's probably not very bright and I don't think it would be able to withstand the harsh environment of the car. But feel free to give it a try if you so desire.

I have one of these in my car, Its in my BMW e36.

It works fine. but what i have found out is this...

In the cold It takes 5 mins to work... It has a protection sensor inside that allows you to open it, but if its to cold then it will just auto close again.

Which i suppose is a good thing, but i dont have a Head unit so if i have left the music on full wack from the night before, then i have to have it on full wack till the screen has thrawd out!

Apart from that its fine. Its no differnt with sunlight than a normal LCD and for the money its ok!

    - Just thought i would add my review!

    nice!

    Hey ice product!

Finally a good-marked product or it's just the usual chinese product remaked by Thermaltake? I hope that it would be mechanically better than mine for the opening/closing system.

Furthermore, the price is very interesting

But yes, it does appear to be a rebranding.... Actually a branding, as I don't think there was ever any brand name shown on the product... I could be wrong about that.
A number of online vendors sell this same in-dash touchscreen, including DigitalWW. I believe the mp3car store sold them at one point, as well.

I like how they market it. It's for a 7" drive bay....

Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

I have too much time and too little aggravation in my life, so I built a carPC. ;)
