Asus P2E-M = ~28 sec
Folks, help me out here!
I need a list of motherboards and post times. From what I can tell, most of us are spending half of our boot time (20+sec) waiting for the mobo to post. Could you please post your motherboard BRAND and MODEL number, with bios version if possible.
I don't care about os load times, as we all can guess how long it takes to load them, relative to the cpu/ram configuration.
I'm compiling a list and will post it on my website. (I know this has been asked before, but searches don't come up with definitive answers.)
I'll start:
ABIT BH6 posts in ~25 seconds
Celeron 300MHz/128Mb ram/Win98 = 60sec full boot
Asus P2E-M = ~28 sec

Asus MB, PII 266, 192 MB Ram, 6.8" LCD, 6 Disk CD-ROM, 21 Gig HD, All-in-Wonder Video w/ TV Tuner, Irman, Windows ME, Winamp, Cobra III -- All in a custom acrylic case.

PC Chips 587LMR - 14 secs
Full Win98 boot 34 secs (P200, 128mb)
-------
bum. broke it.
While I have not yet taken a stop watch to it, Id guess my Amptron 810LMR POSTs and passes controll to windows in about 15 seconds with such things as SMART HDD enable, and two devices on autodetect (been swaping around hd order).
EDIT: Took a stop watch to it, and from the time i hit the power button to the time it hands the system off to windows is 10 seconds.

My Amptron 598LMR (or was it 589?) POSTs in about 10 seconds or so. I have HDs statically configured in the BIOS, and have disable EVERYTHING I do not need (parallel, floppy, etc.). Also disabled RAM test.
Player: Pentium 166MMX, Amptron 598LMR MB w/onboard Sound, Video, LAN, 10.2 Gig Fujitsu Laptop HD, Arise 865 DC-DC Converter, Lexan Case, Custom Software w/Voice Interface, MS Access Based Playlists
Car: 1986 Mazda RX-7 Turbo (highly modded), 1978 RX-7 Beater (Dead, parting out), 2001 Honda Insight
"If one more body-kitted, cut-spring-lowered, farty-exhausted Civic revs on me at an intersection, I swear I'm going to get out of my car and cram their ridiculous double-decker aluminium wing firmly up their rump."
My Lanner EM-586 POSTs in about 20 secs, then a further 3 secs for OS and app boot.

Old Systems retired due to new car
New system at design/prototype stage on BeagleBoard.
FYI - Amptron & PC Chips are essentially resellers of the same mobo.
They have like 10+ brands in total. ECS is also the same company, I cant think of any others off the top of my head.Originally posted by CrazyLittle:

Not in my car system but in my Gateway Pentium3 at home, post completes in under 2 secs - it has something called intel quick boot (or something like that!) the bios literally appears for about 1 or 2 secs then starts booting windows - sounds like it would be ideal for mp3 cars pcs?? Perhaps a visit to the intel website is in order...![]()
Mediabox Hardware Project
Current Stage: A complete redesign, although not much happening right now!
Mediabox Software Project
Status: Writing Sync Software (still) and playing around with interface
To do: Far too much!
what mobo does that gateway have?
