Will PC to Alpine HU via USB work for audio ?

The Alpine HU is the 9857 :

I am in the process of putting together a car pc in my VW R32, and was planning on using a USB sound card. So as the title states; will it work with the Alpine ?

First of all, the title of your thread makes no sense whatsoever.

Second, your question is confusing. What part of your proposed configuration are you concerned about working, and in what way?

Third, you're willing to drop $350 on a qualty headunit, but you want to use a cheap-*** $20 USB sound device? In my mind that makes no sense whatsoever.

You're going to need a way to get the audio tot he headunit. That headunit doesn't have a native AUX input, so you're going to have to hack into the AINET to get it to work, but it can be done. I believe that aux adapters can be purchased, as well.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

Under normal circumstances, a signature would go here.

    Get an AINet converter.
That way you can use a mini-jack to 2 RCA cable for the sound.
The cost will be less, that a USB soundcard, and U can buy a better quality soundcard (PCi instead of USB)
