I would just plug in a mouse to be on safe side.
I remember having this problem with an old AT mobo I had...I just plugged in a mouse to the port and fixed the problem
Hi,
When my PC is in the car I occasionally get phantom mouse events. I can see the mouse moving and clicking on things !
Anyway, I guess this is one of two things:
1. Bad/noisy power (Sproggy DC-DC).
2. Interference from something else in the car.
However, if I plug a mouse in the problem disappears. So for a quick fix (until I shield/ground everything), I was thinking of grounding the data line in the PS2 port for the mouse. Here's the PS2 pinouts:
1 DATA
2 No connection
3 GND
4 +5V
5 CLK
6 No connection
The PS2 is numbered as follows:
.6.H.5.
4.....3
..2.1..
So my question is -- can I just short between pins 3 and 1, or should I use, say, a 10k resistor ?

Yeah, I've thought about that. Take the ball out and all, just leave it in the boot. I even had an old mouse that didn't work that I threw out a couple of months ago.
But it's not the most elegant solution![]()
