First off - I'd like to say I'm getting some GREAT info from these forums! Now, here is my question for those who are MUCH smarter than I am!

I have an Alpine HU that I would like to control from my carPC using USB. After doing research, I figured I could accomplish this by using a PAC 'SWI-ALP' to connect to the HU and a USBmicro U401 USB Interface to connect to the carPC's USB port, then use one of PAC's resistor kits to emulate stearing wheel controls.

In theory, this will work without any problems. However, I am looking for a more elegant solution if one exists - IE: a USB cable that connects directly to the remote lead (white/brown) for the alpine HU that receives remote signals from an Alpine touch-screen monitor.

This would have less hardware involved and would ultimately (IMHO) be a better solution.

If anyone has seen or heard of a solution like this, or knows what would be involved in creating a solution like this, I would welcome your comments or suggestions.

Many thanks to everyone involved in these wonderfull projects!
