    Time to Upgrade my M10000

    Hi,

I think its time to upgrade my M10000. It has problems keeping up with higher quality avi video (especially when other applications are open).

Can anyone recommend which motherboard/processor I should move to? I need to have more processing power !

    Thanks,

    slevytam

well you can get an external video card. Would be cheaper and take all the video processing off the main cpu.

Or you can get any other processor.

My M10k is fine for video (~800Mb xvid) and gps and everything else. And if you re playing HD video off your M10k, you are crazy. That will not work, and also all that processing is lost, because it just has to downscale it anyways to be put on your monitor.

What types of movies are yu trying to play.

And if you want to go new mobo and all it is expensive for the gain. Butthey make duo core itx boards if you want to stay itx formfactor. Don't shove that thing in an ampie case though.

    Hi,

Thanks for your reply. I am setting up a system for my new car so I have to buy another motherboard either way. I was just hoping that something new and improved was available ?

Should I just stick to the M10000 again ?

i had a video issue with my epia mii for the longest time... when the weather was below 60, the system would crash several times on cold boot until it was able to warm up... problem turned out to be the onboard video... i dropped in a pci 128MB video card and all problems went away... boots even in single digit temperatures on first attempt now... the pci video also allowed me to run at 800x480 resolution

There are newere via boards that are faster than the M10k. It all depends on your price range. Like I said there are P4, P4 M's and everything else on the market in itx form. Also there are via boards that use the uATX standard so you don't have to pay for the space saving design.
