OMG, Matt, your dead right mate. I'm sorry. I've been working on my friends stupid Ham radio all week and guess I wasn't thinking clearly.

Cliff, Matts right. I was thinking of AM transmission wave forms. Thats why you have to shout into an AM transmitter whenever someone can't hear you.

Essentially, the higher the voltage of the "line outs" on your audio card, the cleaner your final sound will be.

With a low-level signal, you will need the gain on your amp turned up high, which will likewise greatly amplify any noise in the line. A high-level signal will allow you to keep the amplifier gains turned down low, so interference will be less noticable.

good question.... Like I said earlier on in this thread, I am going for the Phillips Sesimic Edge card.... reading a few reviews it seems to have a very high line-out level...

    Thumbs down

I don't know if it's my mb or just my soundcard, but myy Audigy in my home machine has been nothing but trouble. From me having to disable any of its software from the startup to prevent total system freeze to it refusing to work at all for the past month or so, it has totally sucked. What's the use of a 5 channel card if you can't even use it?

Anyway, I'm hopin my upgrade to a 1 gig Celeron from a 500 Mhz K6-2 will solve the problems... or else this will be my last Creative purchase.

thats what I was reading...... Creative typically have far superior advertising budgets than competing brands... but the products themselves suck.....

I never really paid sooo much attention to the topic.... but the more u think about it, its really crutical to the overall performance and quality of your mp3car system....
