Just wondering, has anyone here thought about the possibility of using a fingerprint reader and your carpc to start your car? Ive been toying with the idea and am looking for some ideas on how to accomplish this...

I think it could be possible if i used a serially controlled relay board to hook to my ignition, maybe the kind that people are using for their HVAC controls, and a fingerprint reader, most of the fingerprint readers that ive seen are just used for user id and password authentication... Now if there was a way to set up some kind of user id and password configeration to activate the relay board i think i could be in business... I dont know im not an expert at that kind of stuff but it would be neat to try...![]()
i do have a remote starter, could that be of any use?
I think i will move my questions over to that other thread since its already there and it has alot of answers,
preciate it guys!!!
you'd need a stand-alone reader, such that it would store the reference points of a finger print on the unit itself, and then maybe output to a pic or something to control a relay or relay(s) and control timing etc.
very expensive and i wouldn't trust or want to wait til a PC booted to start my car up!
however i have seen somewhere on the net of a company who has something like this for sale.
google is your friend!

For some, it may be easier to pull your fingerprint off of something, do the super-glue trick, add some powder and make a copy of your fingerprint (like they just did on mythbusters) and hack your security system that way - Rather than hack a security code.
It's been a while...
