    electronics help?

A little off topic but I see a lot of electronic questions. I've been getting into electronics a lot more and was wondering if anyone knew of any good forums like this but for electronics...being a beginner I have a lot of questions I would like answered.

I think I asked this question before and got no joy. So I'm sticking to bouncing questions of these fourms at present, I don't think anyone here really minds as long as your sensible about it.

    PS Whats your electronics problem?

:edit: Initially wrote "whats your problem" but then realised it could be misinterprited

its not really one problem, I just want to get a better understanding of things and I have stupid little questions that would be nice to get answers too, such as.... I've been looking over a lot of shematics and I see capacitors everwhere...what are these really used for and why so many. I know what they are and how they work but I don't see the real need in these simple circuits.

if you want to learn about simple electronic devices check out www.howstuffworks.com

as for the cap question... they typically are used to smooth out spikes or dips in the line voltage. but they also do other things when you use them certain ways. filtering, oscilating, rapid discharge.

check out the page, and see if you can pick up some basic info on inductors, capacitors, resistors, and transistors.

    good luck.

    Look what I've found,

    www.electronic-circuits-diagrams.com

And they've got a forum, seems quite good, I'm off to read more.

The newsgroups sci.electronics.* are still the best place to go.
