Does the car mp3 players on the comp sound just like a CD?

Is it the same quality, I have a V12 alpine amp, will I notice a differnce between the mp3's playing on comp and the cd player playing cds?

If your MP3s are encoded at a bitrate >128 and you have a decent sound card, you shouldn't notice a difference. Especially when driving.
Player: Pentium 166MMX, Amptron 598LMR MB w/onboard Sound, Video, LAN, 10.2 Gig Fujitsu Laptop HD, Arise 865 DC-DC Converter, Lexan Case, Custom Software w/Voice Interface, MS Access Based Playlists
Car: 1986 Mazda RX-7 Turbo (highly modded), 1978 RX-7 Beater (Dead, parting out), 2001 Honda Insight

quality of sound card will play a HUGE part in it...... also IMHO anything less than 192kps mp3s will show on a higher quality car-audio system...

I have an all alpine system and use a sound blaster live card.. i previously used a 16 bit ISA due to its low profile 1.5" high.. switching over to the sblive card was a HUGE difference.. can crank it up then crank it summore SBLive or Audigy would be an excellent choice.

Does anyone know how the FV24's audio quality compared to a regular car CD player?

My project Everthing works so far.

on-board sound typically aint the best..... its there for sound, not 'high quality/best it can be' type sound....

The fv24's audio is comparable to a SB live. There is a small downgrade in quality going from cd -> high quality mp3's.

I only notice this when listening to my nice headphones in the house, not in the car with road noise.
