    P4-m or pentium M

I have just started building my first mimi-itx using the VB6002G mobo. I installed a p4-m (2Ghz, 512 l2 cache) chip that i got from a Toshiba laptop. However when i powered up nothing happened except the fans spinning up. Then the PSU went off and refuses to turn on. there doesn't seem to be any damage to the mobo. Help plz.

Is your processor a socket 479 or socket 478? It looks like that board isa socket 479 and I bet your processor is a socket 478. What is the 5 digit number on the processor? It's something like S----

I believe socket 479 and socket 478 processors will physically fit in in the same sockets, but the pin config is different from my understanding.

Your motherboard doesn't support your processor. It will only support Socket 479 & Socket 478 Intel Pentium M/ Celeron M processors (Basically a Mobile CPU). I recommend the Intel SL7EG - 1.6GHZ, 2M, P4, 400FSB.

Thanks. Went ahead and ordered the CPU you recommended. Is there any chance i damaged the mobo using the wrong cpu.
