With the dschmidt shutdown controller (no longer available), it takes its cue from the accessory position on the ignition key.
Instead of wiring this to the Acc wire, do you think it will work if I wire it to either my (unused) Amp Remote (0.3A) wire or my (also unused) Power Antenna (0.1A) wire?
I'm thinking, that way, I can relenquish PC power (startup/shutdown) control to my head unit instead of my ignition switch.

It should, cuz it just senses when voltage drops if memory serves me right.
True, but if it normally pulls the signal from the ignition, I'm wondering if it'll pull too much current from the head unit wire. Anyone know how much current this lead draws? More than .1 or .3 Amps?

It draws very little current. All it wants is the 12V signal to switch a relay. It couldn't be more then 300 mA... That's ALOT for a relay.
If it helps, I have a 1A fuse on my ACC line that goes to the back and it turns on my computer relay power and two Alpine V12 amps and it's never blown.
If you connect to the power antenna.. it will only turn on when you turn the head unit to the radio..

BUT.....the blue antenna wire is also used a the remote-amp turn-on. That would mean that the amps turn off when you switch to CD....and I know that doesnt happen.....

dschmidt says he's out of them and he doesnt' sell enough to make it worthwhile to order another batch. He'd have to order so many up front that it'd take him years to recoup his investment.
:/ Sucks. I need a shutdown controller and now I can't get his.
Hmmm... Anyone besides me detect a "reverse-engineering" opportunity here???
