    Request: Bios boot times comparrison.

    Hi all,

Just a little requst for a collaborative effort! Many people wants to know the bios boot times for various boards, prior purchasing, so this is the deal:

Measuring from Cold boot, to os starts loading. State your board model/manufacturer, and your time.

    Dell Latitude D610.

Bios boot time ~ 10 sec.

Help me find out, which board I need to own :-)

    /Michael

Its pretty useless to just give you boot times of random boards. There's a lot that affects boot times such as boot priority, settings and features enabled, etc..

I play with a lot of hardware, by that I mean any motherboard, cpu, video cards, etc. that gets released to the market, it usually goes through me and I can say that if its not a server board, it usually doesn't take long to boot up.

If its anything, you should be more concerned with whether the board is complete acpi compliant and the response time of your hard drive, not the boot time of a mb

Hey, Scuga is that your total boot time 10 secs whats your hardware?

I have the Intel dg965pz mobo with the WD 74gig Raptor @ 10,000rpm and my cold bootstrap takes 28secs (but I also have 2gigs of mem) to get to XP. I have my Lan & 1394, and External PCI exp disabled to gain 2 to 4 seconds.

To get to XP loading or running? The OP clearly talks about the time it takes the BIOS to POST, BEFORE the OS starts to load...
