Unhappy CarPC wont boot totally after leaving it off overnight????

    Hello All

I'm in the process of working out the final bug for my CarPC. The problem is it boots up fine, and goes into hibernation after turning the car on and off. But when I leave it overnight and turn the car on it starts to boot, everything has power, but it doesnt seem to start the bios. I basically get a blank screen and the harddrive is on but doesnt seem to fully boot. The lcd, amp, motherboard, harddrive, etc all seem to have power. In order for it to work i have to remove the constant 12v connection from the m2-atx, and then reattach it. The wierd thing is I can leave it off from the time i go to work, and then when going to lunch it starts up just fine. Its only a problem when leaving it for a long period/overnight. If anyone has any suggestions, I would be greatful as this is my last problem before I can end the madness of building a carpc.

    Thanks

    Joe

I had the same problem w/ my opus 150 when my car battery was dying during my shakedown install.

If I poweroff and cut the 12v the night before, it would boot up just fine.

If I hibernate overnight, I would get the same result as you posted above.

Reading up on it, I believe that it had something to do with certain USB devices (i.e. GPS reciever) getting power and never being shut off even during hibernation. I did configure it that way, tho.

mordz - it a little cold here, but not real cold

sal r - did you figure out a way to resolve it? I have a bluetooth dongle and two usb splitters hook up, but would that really be the issue?

    Thank you for your help.

can you remove the USB device and test over night? as Sal R suggested

This would eliminate the possible battery issue.

IIRC, the options to configure all available USB ports is under the device manager. Search around as I found it in the archives.

In any case, you can check to see if any of your USB ports are still "live" even under hibernation.

For my purposes, I opted to leave power on to my GPS receiver to solve my GPS/hibernation issuess.

For your purposes, check those and disable that feature if it is on for your USB ports.
