    How would it work?

So im planning on running a slot load cd/dvd drive up front on my dash but my computer will be in the back. How would i connect the two? can you run and IDE cable the whole distance? Also, i will have a USB hub in my glove box, could i use an IDE to usb adapter and run it like that? keep in mind the hub is not powered. Thanks...

you will most likely have problems with running it off of an unpowered hub. Read all about it but I suggest you get some power to that drive.

    what he said

most DVD drives require 5v to run properly.., without 5v it either wont run, or you'll have a lot of problems with it.

Basically, get a powered hub, or a 5v source to it

well you're going to run a line for power (unless the battery is in the back) and to get to the head unit (unless you're going headless). Not to mention speaker wires if you are going headless. It's not too much to run a power line for a drive.
