I say change names, work sites especailly still block sites with "mp3" in the titles and stuff.
What are the alternatives?
We need your opinion! Back in the mid 90’s MP3Car.com was started to help people get mp3s into their car before iPods or in car mp3 players existed. Since then, MP3Car.com has evolved to support everything from Car Computers, Mobile linux installs, UMPCs, boat computers, fiberglassing, macs in your car, and an array of other interesting things. It has really become a Community where technologists socialize and share ideas. Within the next couple of months and years, large car manufacturers and after market electronics manufacturers are going to start making X86 hardware for the car, and the hobby will once again change, possibly supporting add on hardware, enhanced software packages and general hacks to the locked down stuff we get from Detroit and the big after market players.
We are considering changing the name of the site that will grow with the hobby.
What do you all think? Should mp3car change its name? If you think we should, we would love some ideas. If the poll supports this name change and your name gets chosen, we would like to reward you with 500$ USD to spend in the store.
Want to give us a name idea? Please e-mail it to: namechange@mp3car.com

Well I think the timespan to change names is long past.
Now it's too well known and they will kill business. All the links that point here from all sorts of sites will die, and google wont reload the cache for a while for a whole new domain, so basically it will start from scratch. I think it is a horrible business move. How do people find here anyways, google. And all the offtopic posts we get are evidence of that.
I do think they should have changed the name before the store became the main focus. When it was a forum oriented site, then a name change would be no biggie. It is too late now though in my opinion.

How about www.digitalcar.com?
I can understand wanting to change the site's name. MP3 kinda locks us (site) to just MP3s, but we all know this hobby has grown over the past 8+ years to include other features. If we (you) did change names I would suggest just changing the first word, something that suggests for than just MP3s.
On the other hand I feel mp3car.com is a great domain name to own. If you tried to acquire it today, just imagine the cost.
Are you looking at domains that are currently available or are you willing to purchase an existing domain (at a possible greater cost)?
