I'm back, finally gettting started on 3.0!

Howdy everyone, long time no talk.

In 2004 I sold my mp3car eclipse and kinda disappeared. Why? I bought my RX-8. It's an amazing car, but one big problem - the radio and HVAC are one unit. Unplug the radio, no air conditioning.

It's been three years, but a kit has finally come out that allows me to replace the stereo. $400 for a magic box and some wires. Whatever, I can finally get started on my mp3car 3.0!!!

    Oooh, shiney.

    Way to go mazda engineers.

    $400.

... and I still had to steal parts from the stock radio.

    But it works! Finally!

I can finally start ordering parts and get started.
    1300 posts but I'm a newb again.

Nice car, dash looks much cleaner with that kit. Are you planning on a glossy finish on the kit, similar to your stock?

Yea, I'll paint it. I didn't bother paying extra for the paint because I'm probably going to be hacking it up anyway.

I'm sry, but that dash looked hidius. Y would you make such a pretty car and screw up the radio controls like that?? But yeah even GM is making aftermarket radio's difficult to put in now days. Like intergrating some of the BCM into the radio????? WTF!!

hey good luck with your project. I really cant wait to see it. Your Eclipse is actually what I used for some reference on my talon. VERY CLEAN. I loved it.
I also love the RX8, I have a soft spot for rotaries
