Im trying to hijack my towers cdrom drive so that i dont need to buy one for my carpc. I bought a 24pin to 20 pin adapter for the PSU because my tower uses a 24pin and my carpcs mobo uses a 20 pin. I plugged everything in, a light turned on then turned off on the mobo, and then i realized i dont know how to turn it on. How the hell do i turn on my carpcs mobo using my towers PSU? I tried using the towers power button but nothing. Am i doing something wrong? Im also using the towers PSu to power the harddrive and the CDROM drive. THanks![]()

I'm a little confused.
Are you using a Dell motherboard?
Are you using a Dell Case? The one that came with the motherboard?
sorry
im trying to use my towers PSU and cdrom drive to install windows and other programs on my carpcs mobo. My dell tower has 3 different plugs that say front panel. None of them use a 9 pin plug, which my carpcs mobo does, and i need it to start my carpcs mobo. Ive explained it in my first post.

Are you using the dell PSU or a dc-dc solution?
Most dell boards (and as a result, PSU's also) do not comply with the ATX standard plug.
Just a thought if you're trying to power an ATX standard board off a dell....

Sorry, but you didn't answer any of my questions, but I am going to guess that you are trying to power a NON-dell mobo with a DELL psu, yes?
There are notorious incompatabilities between dell PSUs and normal standards, but if your DELL tower is newish, it may work.
You linked to a DELL motherboard - what is your motherboard?
