Recently picked up a Lilliput 8.4" non widescreen, with the intention of moulding it into the dash of my '93 Camaro. I saw the F-Body thread, but it appears to be exclusively 98+ cars, which have a very different dash design than the LT1 cars (not to mention going into installing massive subs). I already have the speakers and computer located, now I'm just trying to decide how I want to put the screen in.
My original plan was just to yank the forward cubby off the dash, lay the screen back at about a 45 degree angle, leaving the housing on and calling it a day. After the screen arrived, I found I GROSSLY mismeasured, and there was NO way that plan would work, lol. I'm not even sure at this point if just the LCD panel itself would fit in that location.
I noticed that it would be a pretty decent fit in the general area where the factory radio goes, but I'm hesitant to put it up there as it would be easier to see. My two biggest concerns are visibility to others, and factory look. I don't at all to be screaming that I have a screen/computer in the car. Ideally, I'd like it to be hidden even if people were peeking in the windows, hence why I was planning on putting it so low/deep.
I think now I'm going to need to build a custom frame that will cover both the cubby and radio bezel areas, but I'm curious to see what other people have done in this situation.
