    Talking I was expecting more...

I came to this forum and was so exited to have found something that catered to my forum whim, and I get on here and nobody is talking about mp3 players and cars ... was it a subject that people grew tired of?

I have a car and i want to hook my ipod up to it and not through that dinky FM thing. I want it hooked to the radio.

Does anybody know anything about this?

    Yeah...

We put computers in our cars. That's how this hobby has evolved. Sorry if you're disappointed.

To be honest, integrating your iPod to a stereo (particularly an aftermarket headunit) is remarkably simple. If you have even minimal knowledge of how to install a car stereo, you can pull it off, I assure you.

Actually DP, if you go back to the archives, you will see that this forum started out with modified mp3 players being installed into cars. IIRC, they were hard drive driven with VFD's 2-4 lines text and keypads for song selections. From there this site evolved into what it is today from people wanting more from their in car juke boxes.

Yep, they were computers back then too. My first setup in '99 was DOS6.2 based P233MMX system with a 128x64 mono LCD (later replaced with a 20x4 VFD).
Old Systems retired due to new car
New system at design/prototype stage on BeagleBoard.

Exactly. That's how this hobby has evolved.
The majority of us aren't hcking Empeg units and using 2-line VFDs, but going the full blown PC route.

Why just stop with the ipod? Stick around long enough and you'll soon get the carputer bug.
