win xp key code

Hey I tried to load win xp on my new computer and when I went to activate it I got an error saying that I had used the product key to many times. Does anyone know any way around this?

buy another license? are you trying to use the same code on multiple computers?

Assuming it's a legal copy, just call the 800 number to microsoft that comes up with the problem - I've gotten the same code to occur a couple of times when repeated rebuilding machines (for one reason or another). They ask a couple of questions then give you a long numerical string to type in and you're good to go.

Also assuming it's a legal copy, you can just wait a week or so for that to clear and then try to activate it again. At work I've come across that, too.

What the people above said works, I just called microsoft and told them that I was switching comps and needed to reinstall windows and they talked me through and got it done.

I'm a tech and can confirm what everyone is saying above.

However, if you still have issues after calling MS (the number is provided to you when your activation doesn't work), then PM me and I can get you straightened out.
