You would want to figure out how the display gets digital video signal from he car the first place and figure out some way to switch between the vehicle and CarPC display.

I'm trying to figure out the same as well since I'm anticipating on a possible G37 project.

I'm planning on getting a G37 does anyone know if the aux composite video input can be used to input from the computer? Also can the input be used while the in motion? I know i can convert vga to composite but i'm not sure of the quality.

If the G35 and G37 have similar video systems then you are looking for a way to interface RGBS and make a switcher to switch between factory and carpc. We have added a bunch of alpine navigation system to the G35's so it should be possible. Just dont know what kind a resolution you are going to be looking at.

I had a CarPC in my old car (VGA-TS in a Double DIN).

I just got a G37s with everything but NAV. I have to have a CarPC in this thing! I can do a stock-screen replacement or dual screen (stock via vid-in + secondary VGA-TS over the ash tray area just in front of the stick). Has anyone made a G37 CarPC yet? Seems hard

You can't ONLY use vid-in because there is no way to control the CarPC (unless you add a USB-TS overlay I guess).

I havea 2007 G35 Sedan and i have done the video bypass mod, using an IPOD VIDEO to pump out videos.

I also have done a system. (2 12" subs and amp) and an xbox using a dc to dc convertor, as well as 0gauge wires to the back. I also have a Compustar remote starter alarm with some spare aux channels for use.

Now here is the thing, i wanted to do the car PC too, and i ahve taken the dash apart already.

IT is quite easy to replace the factory screen with a xenarc or whatever if you can fabricate some brackets. You cannot put the factory screen by the ash tray because there is NOT ENOUGH room there. Extending the wires for the facotry screen is going to be the biggest biatch..

I am not sure what to do myself.

The short answer is no
The composite input has a limited Interlaced bandwidth -maybe 280 lines lines of horz resolution, It cannot be increased - The normal display from the G35 is mos tlikely progressive, like a PC ( maybe 800 X 600 ) and the manufacturer did not give you acccess to its processing with a VGA input - so what you are seeing from a PC set to 1024 by 768 is approx 1/4 of the video information that the PC is out putting - it will never look good -
