Hey guys i'm new to the board and have been reading some posts regarding the dvd screen/gps/carputers and was trying to come up with some ideas, but the only problem is from what i have read is that on my accord it has the little LCD screen and you cant really just take the whole thing out. I was wondering if i WAS to take this out ground the security wire could i add in a carputer in that slot and just wire my AC controls up somehow? All input is appreciated.. Ill post some pics of the car in a few when i get my camera workin.. Thanks in advance

i dont have navigation but i do have a 6 disc CD changer with dual climate controls. ive read a couple posts regarding some people that actually did fit a 7inch screen into the dash and keeping the dual climate controls... btw nice setup on that carpc, looks nice man
You could replace that little screen on the stock unit, but I'm pretty sure you'd have to be an EE or have a buddy who is to make everything function the way you want. You run a real good risk of ruining the stock unit alltogether, which isn't a cheap replacement. I have a 04 Accord that I'm planning an install and I'm with john05srt4 - the screen in the cubby is the way to go. I plan on fabricating mine into the stock pocket so that the door will still function, that way everything looks completely stock. A member named Telos has already done this and it turned out real nice, you can see it at 04 Accord PC

It looks great however it appears you would have to have alot of electrical experience with this method. I wonder.. do they make a top face plate for where the stock stereo sits at? maybe you could use one of those and just plug it into the new headunit and the AC and controls would still work?
If only it were that simple... the climate control, disc changer, and stereo are all one big unit - so to take one out is to take them all out. Thats why just about everyone goes to the bottom cubby. What 98EXL did is rediculously awesome, but beyond a lot of peoples experience level and patience. The key to his mod was replacing his original HU with the dumbed down version, without the disc changer and automated CC.It looks great however it appears you would have to have alot of electrical experience with this method. My unit, and from what I understand most of them, does NOT have an auxilary input, it has auxilary capabilities. You have to add something like this: http://www.discountcarstereo.com/detail.aspx?ID=924
