Most headunits that have a USB port will not interface with a USB hard drive.
I am purchasing this head unit this week and I was wondering how hard drives work with the head unit. Would the music just play random songs or could you some how create play lists? Do you think its a good idea to get a hard drive or should I just stick with USB Flash Drives. I would like to get a external hard drive because you can hold so much more music in them and that would save me more money in the long run.
You may have to format the hard drive to fat32 to work. Or it may not work at all with a hard drive.
Um, I guess this is where you put something witty.WITTY

Read the JVC specs as well as reviews. That headunit might only be able to accept usb mass storage devices up to a specific size. I was interested in a similar JVC unit until I reallized the size limit was no where near the 80gb that I wanted to hook up to it.
Call crutchfield. . .their support is spot on and they'll probably know
